Americans and people all over the world are shocked by each episode of Muslim violence. They shoudn’t be. Violence is what Islam is all about. Mealy-mouthed apologists (and they crawl out of the woodwork every time Muslim violence disgusts and horrifies the civilized world) insist that theirs is a religion of peace. Sure, you can find that in the Quran, and these people may really believe it. Maybe it’s true for them. But worldwide — and for the non-Muslims on the receiving end of the bomb or firearm, for those of us watching as our President is burned in effigy over CARTOONS — the reality is quite different.

That a TV comedy could cause other people to commit or even threaten violence is sad evidence of the barbarism that is Islam. Where are the clerics speaking out against this bullshit? Where are the moderate Muslims? The governmental leaders?

At this moment there is on the desk of each of the Joint Chiefs of Staff an official Predsidential order to begin evacuation of troops from both countries. In 36 hours, the Joint Chiefs are to report to me with phased withdrawal plans, which will be implemented immediately. We knew how to send those kids in — and I notice with shame and humility how few of us, who have sent so many to their graves, had the guts to do that. Not very many, I would think. We sent them in, we know how to get them out.
Muslim men should find love in this world; that’s the ideal solution. Then they wouldn’t have to resort to suicidal fantasies. But their religion won’t allow that. That’s the real enemy. It’s a case of killing the snake by cutting off the head.
Can’t we all just get along, live and let live in ’10 and beyond? Didn’t Jesus and Mohammed want that? If they wanted people to kill in their names, then they were evil and psychotic and should be rejected. The same goes for the people who commit horrible acts of religious violence.

It is time to identify the real enemy, the elephant in the living room: religion. Religion creates a fantasy world which can be used to manipulate young people’s minds and turn them into suicidal maniacs that wreak havoc and threaten whole societies.
I deeply regret that we do not use religion as a psychological weapon against our enemies. Openly desecrate their Quran. Have soldiers do it right in front of detainees. No need to waterboard. No need to lay a finger on them. Cover their walls with ALL kinds of pictures of Mohammed. Photoshop him on a surfboard, in a strip club.
This whole desecration thing is so bogus, creepy, and frightening that I hardly know where to begin.

Religion is dangerous. It’s not good for you or for your health. Here in the West, we are very much concerned with risks to our health. We read eagerly of the next nutrition fad or antioxidant. Well, don’t you think religion is a threat to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, weighing people down with guilt, fantasy stories, and promises of an afterlife? And how many people die each year from religious persecution and violence? Surely the number must be comparable to those who suffer and die from breast cancer, smoking, alcoholism, heart disease, diabetes, and so many others, against which we mount crusades, conduct walkathons, collect the money, and badger politicians for special programs and research grants.
Religious people like to say religion’s a mystery, and it definitely is. The idea that religion is madness goes back to my fellow secular Jews, Freud and Marx. Why do these psychotic fantasies get so much public respect, when their exact equivalents (imaginary voices, imaginary histories, imaginary worlds and afterlives) are to be found as bona fide mental illnesses in the DSM-IV, the psychiatrist’s Bible of all that can go wrong with the human mind? Religion is officially, medically nothing more than sanctioned insanity.
